In conclusion, the Saudi Green
Initiative (SGI) is a comprehensive national program aimed at mitigating
climate change, enhancing living standards, and safeguarding the environment
for posterity. A green future must be achieved on a global scale. Saudi Arabia
wants to protect future generations both inside and outside its boundaries and
improve the standard of living. To do this, the Kingdom is coordinating green
initiatives with foreign leaders, private sector companies, and government
ministries.
Goals
- By 2030, cut carbon emissions by 278 mtpa.
- Ten billion trees will be planted in the next several
decades, restoring forty million hectares of land.
- preserving by 2030 thirty percent of Saudi Arabia's land
and sea.
It would take 50 billion trees to restore 200 million
hectares of degraded land in the Middle East. Ten billion of the 50 billion
trees that will be planted in the region over the next few decades will be
planted inside Saudi Arabia's boundaries. Reaching this goal will contribute to
the creation of new jobs and the fortification of rural settlements. Along with
these many advantages, the trees will stabilize soils, guard against floods and
dust storms, and contribute to a 2.5% global reduction in CO2 emissions.
Countries are being motivated to take greater action towards achieving a
carbon-free future by the objectives of the Middle East Green Initiative and
Saudi Arabia, which is having a significant worldwide impact.
