measurable results.

A long-term, sustainable climate action strategy is being implemented under the direction of SGI. The three main goals of SGI's activity are the protection of land and sea, afforestation and land regeneration, and emissions reduction. More than 80 initiatives have been engaged since SGI's inception in 2021, and advancements are made daily.

Reducing emissions, protecting land and sea, and greening Saudi Arabia

The 2030 target for the Saudi Green Initiative is to cut carbon emissions by 278 million tons annually.

the goal of lessening the effects of climate change and quickening Saudi Arabia's green transition.

A Multidimensional Approach to Reducing Emissions is being adopted by Saudi Arabia.

By 2030, the Kingdom has promised to produce half of its electricity from renewable sources. In addition to changing the country's energy mix, SGI is leading other large-scale programs that will lower emissions. These include making investments in fresh energy sources, enhancing energy economy, and creating a program for carbon capture and storage.

When combined, these programs will assist Saudi Arabia in fulfilling its climate commitments and guaranteeing a sustainable future.

Saudi Arabia approaches the reduction of emissions from its emissions using a whole-of-society perspective.

ACTION 1: CCE Framework Implementation

accelerating the national program to reduce, reuse, recycle, and eliminate CO2 emissions through the circular economy.

ACTION 2: MAKING ENERGY INVESTMENTS

converting the current energy mix of the Kingdom to a more sustainable one that includes 50% renewable energy.

ACTION 3: LEADERING A NEW ENERGY SOURCE THAT IS SUSTAINABLE

rising to the top of the global clean hydrogen production and export rankings.

ACTION 4: MAXIMIZING ENERGY PERFORMANCE

Improving the Energy Efficiency Program (SEEP) in Saudi Arabia.

ACTION 5: REFORMULTING THE MANAGEMENT OF WASTE

launching a large-scale effort in Riyadh to change trash management.

One goal for reducing emissions, numerous efforts that contribute.

Across Saudi Arabia, ambitious programs are being put in place to fight climate change and build a cleaner, greener future for everybody. These include putting in place extensive energy-saving initiatives, putting a large sum of money into clean hydrogen and renewable energy sources, and creating state-of-the-art carbon capture equipment.

Planting 10 billion trees in Saudi Arabia is the SGI's goal.

a pledge to repair 40 million hectares of land and replenish Saudi Arabia's native vegetation.

proactively addressing the effects of climate change

AFFORESTATION INITITIVES ACROSS THE KINGDOM ARE CAREFULLY PLANNED TO INCREASE VEGETATION COVER AND HELP COMBAT DESERTIFICATION.

Restoring 40 million hectares of deteriorated land would require planting 10 billion trees throughout Saudi Arabia. Together, we can enhance air quality, lessen sandstorms, restore important ecological services, and much more with the support of our entire population.
